A myomectomy is a surgical procedure that removes uterine fibroids, which are non-cancerous growths of tissue. During a myomectomy, a surgeon inserts a small, lighted instrument through the vagina and cervix and into the uterus. The surgeon then uses either a wire loop resectoscope or a hysteroscopic morcellator to cut the tissue.
